About For Black Boys...

See how fantasies and realities collide in For Black Boys, a play that speaks to living as a Black man in 21st-century Britain. The Olivier-nominated play heads back to the West End for two months only — book For Black Boys tickets on Box Office.

Ntozake Shange’s seminal 1974 play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf, inspires Ryan Calais Cameron’s touching play. In his British-set adaptation, the action centres around six Black men, all named after different shades of black.

As they find a safe space in therapy sessions, they share their struggles with mental health and the complexities of the Black experience. Watch their hearts and imaginations run wild, and join them in their desperate bid for survival.

With its frank and honest approach to difficult topics, this play is a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in a world that often seems divided. The Evening Standard hailed For Black Boys a “mosaic of young British black men’s experience, often laugh-out-loud funny and physically exuberant [and] occasionally poetic.”

After a hit West End premiere at the Apollo Theatre, For Black Boys in London makes a jubilant return in spring 2024.
